The design of the current iMac-lineup is quite timeless and hasn’t changed over the last years. According to some sources on Twitter, this may change this Monday!

Many users wait for a radical change on the iMac which hasn’t been visually optically updated in many years but while the ARM-switch is coming, it may be questioned if a 2020 iMac will already feature a new design. Rumors about a radical design change aren’t that new and were our company for the last years — personally I don’t need no visuals on the iMac but tastes are different, aren’t they?

Anyway, a Twitter leak (or at least the assumption of a leak) got public on Sunday where a user named @Soybeys wrote about a possible new iMac this week with, to be more specific, a release on Monday.

If this was true, we can assume that Apple is rather preparing a specification bump for the range rather than making any design alterations which would have less an effect than an Apple Silicon-iMac with a new design. A second leaker, @Jioriko, got in the line, stating that „The iMac redesign IS NOT coming for this 10th generation Intel refresh“.

Both Twitter-accounts are fairly new and not known to have released any real (true) leaks in the past but this does not mean they are completely wrong as the bios on Twitter somehow reveal an Apple-employment relationship in the past. For example, an earlier tweet from July 19 by leaker @L0vetodream told that „In my dreams some products are ready to ship,” which may be considered quite a little bit vague but certainly lends some credence to a product launch.

Most certainly, an 10th-gen Intel-refresh is overdue anyway so I personally think that the kernel of truth is not that far away at this stage but so far these information must be labelled as „rumors“.

In the end we will see if Apple releases a new iMac this week but even if not and this rumor appeared to be just a „rumor“ (sic!), there may be one lurking at the horizon. Don’t take freshly-designed models for granted unless they ship with an ARM-SoC (which would be too early), but judge this piece of information with the well-known grain of salt!
