According to some sources in the Internet, we will soon see the follow-up(date) of Veeam's flagship product Backup and Replication. While we currently work with Version 9.5 Update 4a, 4b is already rising. The latest update is currently tested and will be available in a few weeks after full regression testing cycles. Veeam hasn't announced a specific release date yet but we may expect this version to be launched still within this year while. The long expected V10 will - of course - still need its time.
The Update 4b will deliver new support for latest guest and host OSes, a new version of Windows and Linux agents and also support for a newer version of some Linux distributions. While we still sum up the features it is also worth mentioning that there will be also support of VMware vCloud Director 9.7 on board. Besides, the Windows 10 May 2019 Update as well as Windows Server version 1903 as guest VM is supported and may also be the base of Veeam Backup & Replication and its components.
As it comes to the agents, we may also expect the Windows 10 May 2019 Update-support by the new Veeam Agent for Windows. Additionally, the Linux kernel with version 5.0 will be supported by Veeam Agent for Linux with the new update. Both agents are told to be lifted up to version 3.0.2 as part of Update 4b. Mentioning Linux, Veeam broadens the support for varius distributions: Support for RHEL 8, CentOS 8, Oracle Linux 8 and openSUSE Leap 15.1 in the Backup and Replication-agent management functionality is on schedule, too!
While you spend some time waiting for the new update, why not check out Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5 Update 4a (Trial) or the FREE Community Edition in the meantime and get familiar with the product?
